Amazingly beautiful.....

I've been wanting to blog about this for months but I just never had the time.

As everyone pobably knows(or you don't because you don't care, I understand), I take the bus every morning to school. From my home, I usually take the 29, which is a "Bendy Bus" just like pictured above. A lot of people love it because you can get in from any of the three doors, and you don't have to tap your Oyster Card if the driver didn't see you. So as long as the inpectors don't come and ask for your Oyster or pass, you can ride for free. I personally hate it. I just think it's the worst invention in the world!! But that's not the point of this post.

Anyways, because I live in the London suburban area, every morning, a lot of school kids take thebus to school. And these kids usually have relly, really bad behaviour. As a result, the divers of the 29 usually have attitude issues. When you arrive at a stop, and because this is a bendy bus, and in the morning the bus is so full, it's very difficult to get to the doors, they might close before you can get off. Usually, when this happens, the person who failed to get off will press the bell repeatedly, to remind the driver that there are people inside the bus who still need to get off. And because the driver usually needs a lot of therapy, he will ignore this. So the person will start screaming, normally words that you don't say i front of your mother, until the next stop, where the person will finally get off while muttering these words. Trust me. It's never a pleasant sight to see first thing in the morning.

But one morning, soething amazing happened...

One woman tried to get off the bus when the doors closed in front of her. Instead of the usual press-the-bell-ten-thousand-times-and-curse-to-the-driver method, she actally screamed, rather politey "Excuse me, driver!! I need to get off!!" And the most amazing thing happened: The driver opened the doors for her. I swear everyone in the bus was smiling to themselves when they saw this. It was the most beautiful thing we'd ever seen!!!

I had a great day that day.

Driving Miss Knowles..... Crazy

Oscar nominations are out!! Dreamgirls scored the most nominations with 8, but was shut out of the Best Picture and Best Director categories, proving that this film is not 2006's Chicago. Worse, 3 out of the total 8 are in the Best Original Song category, meaning Dreamgirls can only win a maximum of 6 awards come Oscar night 25 Feb.

On to Beyonce Knowles...

She is one of the above-the-title stars of Dreamgirls, and according to sources, she considers this her first acting role, and her pimply parents expected her to at least get an Oscar nomination. No. They wanted her to win. Sadly for the pimps, she was mentioned in almost every review of the film as the weakest link. Although she was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Golden Globes, she didn't win, nor was she expected to. She even showed up in an ugly gold dress, and pictures of her flashing her armpits were all over the gossip blogs worldwide.

Many thought Beyonce could make up to not being the strongest performer in Dreamgirls by getting a nomination in the Best Original Song category- she claimed she co-wrote Listen. But due to strict Oscar rules, she was not included as one of the writer of the song. However, may believed she could still make Oscar night a big night for her by giving an all-out performance of the song. Unfortunately for her, Listen in on the category along with two other songs- Love You I Do, performed in the film by Jennifer Hudson, and Patience, performed in the film by Eddie Murphy, Keith Robinson, and Anika Noni Rose. So now Beyonce is facing a risk of being upstaged by her co-stars, as well as having to watch Jennifer Hudson collect her Oscar statutette. Let's not argue about Miss Knowles' ability to sing live- she may be one of the biggest recording artists, but on stage, she's doesn't sound so good.

But Listen is a much more powerful song the the other two, Love You I Do is even said to be "too light" in the film by Jamie Foxx's character, so Miss Knowles better work hard to give a knock-out performance- she wouldn't want to be upstaged by a newcomer singing a light song. If she messes this up, she will come home that night as the biggest loser.

I just hope she doesn't flash her armpits again that night.

#1!!!

My most anticipated movie of 2006, Dreamgirls (I know it comes out here in 2007 - next month. but its US release is 2006) has reached the no1 spot at the US box-office!!!! It's just daily box-office(it's the weekend chart that matters) but this would mean that its finally becoming a hit. The Golden Globe Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) win on Monday has boosted its box-office potential.

Check out the chart!!

Listen!!!

Free Music Videos

I'm not a huge fan of Beyonce's, but this song is magical. I just love it. She co-wrote it, but won't be listed as one of the writers come Oscar nominations. Watch the video. She looks like a total DIVA!!

Miss Potter

Last night I went to Cineworld Wood Green for the preview screening of "Miss Potter", the biopic about Beatrix Potter starring Renee Zellweger in the title role. It was amazing. This movie is not like the other biopics that I'd seen before. While the other biopics talk too much of the work of their subjects, this one focuses on the life of Beatrix Potter, which was very entertaining to watch. When I saw the movie, one thing that occurred to me was that this movie feels warm, which felt really good, as I went into the cinema from the horrible London winter shower.

For Ewan McGregor fans out there- this movie saw him doing something he fell in love with while filming the musical "Moulin Rouge!" -- singing!! I think it was the sweetest scene from a movie this year, and I am counting "The Holidays". The chemistry between the 2 leads was very fun to watch.

I really reccommend this movie to everyone. Go see it when it opens this Friday, 5 Jan 2007.

And I Am Telling You

This is a clip from the stage musical Dreamgirls, with Jennifer Holliday playing Effie, singing And I Am Telling You. Amzing. I'm ruining the movie for myself, aren't I?
